This small mountain next to the cherry tree is the symbol of the JAXA Sagamihara Campus. It is a replica of the Kogetsudai in the gardens of Ginkaku-ji*1. It was so dirty that the high-pressure washer could be used like paint!

*1Kogetsudai (向月台): an mound of sand in the gardens of Ginkaku-ji (the Silver Pavilion) in Kyoto. There are various theories as to its origin, such as a place to watch the moon rise over mountains, or reflect the moonlight to illuminate the dark main hall of the temple.
