In early August, we travelled to Australia (Adelaide, Melbourne and Canberra) to express our gratitude for the assistance in the Hayabusa2 mission, and to coordinate regarding the landing permission for the Martian Moons eXploration (MMX) mission capsule to Woomera. The Hayabusa2 re-entry capsule containing the sample from asteroid Ryugu landed in Woomera, South Australia, on December 6, 2020. MMX is schedule to return samples from the Martian moon, Phobos, in fiscal year 2029.

We also visited the Deep Space Network station in the suburbs of Canberra. We were warmly welcomed by the local parents and children!

Meeting with the ASA, Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and Department of Defence at the ASA in Canberra. The cooperation for Hayabusa2 was highly evaluated, so we feel there are positive feelings for the cooperation for MMX. However, "JAXA imports goods from space to Australia, and then immediately exports these to Japan without opening the package" is actually a very complicated story, so we will continue to make adjustments carefully and in good time.

In Canberra, we also visited the Embassy of Japan in Australia, and the Ambassador tweeted about our visit.
