ISAS Deputy Director General Prof. Fujimoto Masaki, and five curators from JAXA, visited the NASA Johnson Space Center (JSC) in Houston on August 22 and 23 to discuss the Hayabusa2 and OSIRIS-REx projects. On site, we toured the curation facilities for the Hayabusa2/OSIRIS-REx missions and lunar collections from the Apollo program to learn more about their sample processing and environments for long-term storage. We also joined the TAGSAM (Touch-and-Go Sample Acquisition Mechanism) disassembly rehearsal with the JSC curators to observe the techniques used to recover the samples from the sample capsule.
