In preparation for the first Mercury swing-by for the BepiColombo mission on October 2, 2021 JST, the observation sequence is being created in the MIO operation room. This will determine what observations during the swing-by will be made by the instruments onboard the JAXA orbiter, MIO, which forms the BepiColombo spacecraft together with the ESA orbiter for the journey to Mercury. This sequence of commands developed in Sagamihara is then sent to the European Space Operation Center in Germany, registered in advance with the spacecraft and automatically executed on the day.
