Martian Moons eXploration (MMX) Project Team

The JAXA Martian Moons eXploration (MMX) mission is preparing for launch in FY2026! As we ready for departure, we are excited to announce the #GoodLuckMMX message campaign.

We would like to hear from you before we set out on our journey to the Martian moons. Send us a message through the campaign website and your message will be installed on the MMX spacecraft to embark on an adventure to the Martian system with MMX.

If the ultimate mission for MMX ― to land on the Mars's moon Phobos, collect a sample, and return to Earth ― is achieved, this will mark the world's first round-trip sample return mission to the Mars region. Your messages will complete this historic journey, coming back home with the sample return capsule onboard the MMX spacecraft.

From the samples collected from the surface of Phobos and through observations of both the moons, Phobos and Deimos, MMX will explore the origin of the Martian moons, how a habitable environment for life might have arisen on the terrestrial planets, and provide new insights into the history of the Martian system.

"Good luck, MMX!"
"To my future self in 2031..."

We look forward to receiving your messages of support!
