This month, the NASA Perseverance rover successfully drilled into the surface of Mars, and retrieved and stored the cores of rock. These first Martian rock samples and the others that Perseverance will continued to collect, will eventually be returned to Earth as part of the Mars Sample Return (MSR) joint campaign by NASA and ESA. For our MMX team, this marks the start of a new era of Mars exploration that will include the Martian Moons eXploration mission. Project members talk about the importance of this recent success.
