We are pleased to announce that it is the time of the call for presentations for Workshop on JAXA Astrodynamics and Flight Mechanics. Thanks to your support, this year we will celebrate the 35th workshop. In this year, we will hold a hybrid symposium that will accept both in-person and online presentations/audiences. In the evening of the 1st day of the symposium, we plan to hold a networking meetup, so if you can make it, we hope you will come to JAXA Sagamihara.
As space activities become more developed, the importance of the field of astrodynamics, which includes navigation, guidance and control based on applied mechanics, seems to be increasing. We believe that it is very meaningful for people involved in JAXA's projects to discuss various research issues with people from universities and research institutes, and to explore the application of theories. As active members of astrodynamics community, we would like to have an opportunity to spend time for pure research and technical discussion.
The conference last year was a great success, with 91 presentations and over 300 registered participants. Therefore, last year we decided to limit the presentation time to 25 minutes instead of the usual 30 minutes. Our first priority is to secure enough time for presentations and discussions with audience. This year's symposium will be based on the same policy of 30 minutes per presentation, but depending on the number of presentations, the presentation time may be reduced to 25 minutes, as in the previous year. In terms of contents, we would like to avoid general discussions such as conceptualization and system description, and focus on fundamental research and technology issues. We also welcome presentations of research and technology that is not yet completed or in progress. We also look forward to the participation of graduate students and young engineers. As a new symposium policy, we will allow the submission of presentation slides instead of the conventional paper format for the post-print collections; we hope that this will reduce the burden on presenters. The workshop will also accept presentations of previously published topics. Although we require all presenters to submit post-printed materials in principle, the authors can limit the content depending on your copyright issues before publication in the symposium's repository. This symposium does not require the transfer of copyright from authors. We hope that international students are willing to apply for this workshop.
The organizing members have been discussing and making various attempts to contribute to the growth and success of the astrodynamics community. We look forward to your continued support and encouragement.
