We are pleased to announce that a workshop on future planetary exploration will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at X-NIHONBASHI BASE in Tokyo.

This workshop aims to bring together the perspectives of both science and engineering to develop ideas for future missions. Since 2020, we have held five workshops, collaborated with the Planetary Symposium at Tohoku University, and have deepened discussions on the Moon, Mars, Venus, small bodies, outer planets, and engineering topics (https://www.isas.jaxa.jp/en/researchers/info/003779.html). As discussions in each area are becoming more mature, this time we will focus especially on Mars and outer planets, based on requests from the communities.

For the Mars session, we will discuss the 3-step mission concept using an inflatable aeroshell and gather feedback and ideas in response to "Japan's International Space Exploration Scenario 2025." For the outer planets session, we will feature the OPENS (Outer Planet Exploration by Novel Small spacecraft) program. We hope to exchange ideas on future planetary exploration, identify common challenges, and collect input for the OPENS program, encouraging new participation and collaboration.

The workshop will be held in a hybrid format: both onsite at X-NIHONBASHI BASE and online via Zoom. A social networking party will be held after the workshop. Details on the program and registration will be announced soon. We look forward to your participation.
