 abstract of observational proposal
Main Objective: The objective is to capture the composition, dynamics and morphology of an active region and possibly a flare from two vantage points.

Scientific Justification: (Same as HOP 460) : Pradeep Chitta and I are coordinating the Solar Orbiter Observing Plan SMALL_MRES_MCAD_Earth-Quadrature. The target would be an active Region near the Sun Limb from Earth perspective, while Solar Orbiter is in Quadrature. The main objective is to capture the morphology, the composition and the dynamics of the active region from two different vantage points. Another objective would be to capture a flare from two different perspective (as it was done in the previous iteration of this SOOP on 30/09/2024). Lines detected by Hinode/EIS can provide composition, as well as temperature and density diagnostics in active regions/flares. Doppler velocity measured by EIS can be combined with the apparent velocity seen in HRIEUV and one measured by Solar Orbiter/SPICE (after removal of the PSF artifacts) to mitigate projection effects. Hinode/XRT can also provide higher temperature constraints in case of flares with the Al-poly and thin-Be filters. Hinode/SOT can provide context magnetograms of the photosphere. We would like to reuse HOP 460 that was successfully run in the previous iteration of the SOOP.

 request to SOT
[HOP 0460] If the AR is on disk, as viewed from Hinode, then several 320"x164", 230"x164", or 164"x164" fast maps are requested, depending on the size of the AR target, repeated as many times as telemetry allows.

 request to XRT
[HOP 0460] CME Watch program with Al-poly and thin-Be. Flare mode should be enabled.

 request to EIS
[HOP 0460] 1st March 2026 : Study #404 Atlas_60 1h before the SOOP for context (07:00 - 08:00 UT). During the SOOP (08:00 - 09:00 UT), we suggest either Atlas_30 (study 403) or FlareResponse02 (study 546). The choice would depend if 10s exposure time is enough in an AR to detect the lines in study 546 with high enough SNR ratio, even in the absence of a flare. We are open to suggestions from the team on the question.

IRIS requests:
IRIS is planned to observe in coordination with the following OBSID 3460007427 or 3460007426. The IRIS team has been contacted and accepted the request.
