 abstract of observational proposal
Main Objective: Joint observations of Active Region Microflares

Scientific Justification:
The XSM is a solar x-ray spectrograph operating from 1-15Kev with 200ev energy resolution and a cadence of 1s. Simultaneous observations of Active Region microflares early in the solar cycle will allow us to combine two filter morphological observations from XRT with XSM time resolved spectroscopy to follow and constrain plasma heating in these frequent events.

 request to SOT
None

 request to XRT
Be_thin & Be_med filters with AEC 3 (short exposure times) so that the micro-flares don't saturate. 384x384 full resolution FOV. Cadence ~60s.  A program using short exposures (AEC=3) similar to XOB 1C97 is preferred.

 request to EIS
A new EIS study has been developed for this HOP:

cam_flare_hot1_study

FOV ~100x100" (sparse raster)
Run continuously for as much time on target as possible

If the new EIS study is not available, use any flare raster such as

hh_FLare_raster_v6
4m cadence, 3" step 60x152 9s exp.

 other participating instruments
Chandarayan-2 X-ray Solar Monitor (XSM)
IRIS: None

 remarks
Dates: ToO during March & April 2020.

Time window: Duration ~4hrs, brief interruptions are ok

Target(s) of interest: Active region, emerging flux region

Previous HOPs: Lots
