There are several routes to doing research in the Sakai Laboratory.

For students aiming at a graduate degree, there are the Cooperative Graduate School Program and the Supervised Student Program.

Cooperative Graduate School Program

The laboratory is established in the following two graduate schools:

• SOKENDAI, School of Physical Sciences, Department of Space and Astronautical Science
• The University of Tokyo, Graduate School of Frontier Sciences, Department of Advanced Energy

Supervised Student Program

This is a program through which JAXA accepts students individually. Students remain enrolled at their current university while carrying out their research at JAXA.
