The Department of Space and Astronautical Science changes selection methods in entrance exams (general entrance exams) for admission into the 5-year course or the 3-year course (admission into the third-year cource) from the admission in October
2017 or April 2018 as below.

Changes effective from entrance exams for admission in October 2017 or April 2018
Specialized subject (exams for admission into the 5-year course)
Specialized subject (exams for admission into the 5-year course): Exams in mathematics and physics will be performed separately. There will be basic questions that are common to a wide range of fields.
- Mathematics (90 minutes): A total of 2 questions on calculus and algebraic geometry
* Changed from “A total of 2 questions, one is about calculus and the other is about linear algebra” - Physics (90 minutes): A total of 2 questions on classical mechanics and electromagnetism
* Changed from “A total of 2 questions, one is about classical mechanics and the other is about electromagnetism”
Interview
- The interview for admission in the 5-year course consists of a 20-minute presentation and 20-minute question-and-answer session.
- Prepare the abstract of your presentation (approximately in 300 words) in addition to presentation materials used for the interview for admission into the 5-year course or the 3-year course. The abstract should include a clear logical structure similar to academic papers. Submit the abstract and materials of your presentation by registered mail.
Changes effective from entrance exams for admission in October 2018 or April 2019
English
TOEFL or TOEIC score should be submitted instead of an examination. You cannot apply for admission if the score is not greater than or equal to 500 (TOEFL PBT), 173 (TOEFL CBT), 61 (TOEFL-iBT), or 586 (TOEIC).
Submission of other certification
of your English skill* may be accepted as an alternative to TOEFL or TOEIC.
