The Science and Engineering of MICHI: An Infrared Instrument for the Future Thirty Meter Telescope

We present the current status of MICHI, a possible early generation thermal-infrared (TIR) instrument for the TMT. We focus on the primary science drivers of exoplanets (formation, atmospheric characterization, and direct TIR imaging), and active galactic nuclei, as well as enabling technologies.
