 abstract of observational proposal
Main Objective:  Evolution of Stokes profiles during magnetic flux cancelation

Scientific Justification: Kubo et al. (2014) investigated asymmetric Stokes V profile along the PIL for one cancelation event and suggested that presence of asymmetry is not related to cancelation. We want to verify this argument. We will study how the profile shape varies before, during, and after flux cancelation by making use of the high spatial and spectral resolution of the observations. Also, we plan to use the linear polarisation profiles, in addition to Stokes V, to determine Doppler velocity, and compare it with that from the Stokes I profile. With this, we can distinguish between the motion of magnetized and non-magnetized plasma. The Doppler velocity values from linear polarisation profiles will give us a hint about the line-of-sight motion of horizontal magnetic fields during cancelation.

We like to have the following observation mode:sixty slit positions, spatially binned (9 arcsec x 80 arcsec) data with a cadence of about 1 minute; tracking off.

Run for 1 - 3 hours to overlap with IRIS, telemetry permitting.
