 abstract of observational proposal
Main Objective: Fast cadence observations of an active region

Scientific Justification: In this HOP we plan to study an active region at high time cadence. This has been done already for XRT, with interesting results. Along with this, we will use new EIS wide slot studies. This is following on from the use of the EIS wide slot data to extract velocities in the early stages of a flare (Harra et al., 2017).

This method made use of the EIS flare trigger data which has 1-minute cadence. In this HOP we have developed a new study that will observe at 10 sec cadences. We wish to also coordinate with IRIS with a sit and stare study. This should highlight flow spectroscopically that can confirm any interesting events seen with XRT and EIS.

This should be run outside of SAAs for both Hinode and IRIS.

 request to SOT
Telemetry adjustment to EIS and XRT for high cadence observations, if necessary and available.

 request to XRT
High cadence obs (~10s) with 384x384 fov, single filter, similar to HOP 341.
Please disable FLD if it is safe to do so; otherwise reduce cadence of flare patrol images to 80 sec (use FLD table 0018)
Suggest XOB #1BDC or similar.

 request to EIS
Fast_slot_hefe3 (study ID 544) – itfs a 266" slot of Fe XII and He II with 10 sec exposure time. Each study lasts an hour (using 172Mbits).

This can be run for as many hours as telemetry allows us – but maybe try for 1 first just to see the data.

Before and after this run, I'd be running raster_hefe3 (study ID 543) – this is a slit raster study to characterise the spectral lines in the slot band – the FOV = 272 x 304. This uses 157 Mbits

IRIS requests:
Run #1:
Desired OBS for a few hours:
3620009404  |     Very large sit-and-stare 0.3x175 1s  Si IV   Mg II h/k Deep x 8      |      19.34    |      50.91 |       1.8     |  9.7+/-0.2 |  9.7+/-0.2 |  0.0+/-0.0 | 19.3+/-0.0 | 19.3+/-0.0 |  0.0+/-0.0

If telemetry does not allow a few hours of very high data rate, observations of the following OBS could be useful too:
