 abstract of observational proposal
The purpose of this proposal is to track an active region for 5 days in order to measure the changes in the magnetic field through e.g. the magnetic energy dissipation rate, and then correlate this to the response in the corona through measuring the 'turbulence' in the corona through coronal line width measurements from EIS. A preliminary paper on this work has just been submitted by Harra and bramenko.

 request to SOT
FG magnetograms

 request to XRT
Dynamics (FOV on the AR), no need for temperature info.

 request to EIS
Run HH_Flare_180x160_v2 ] must be pointed at the core of the active region.

 other participating instruments
The New Solar Telescope (NST) of Big Bear Solar Observatory will also follow the target when the weather allows. The NST's observing time window is 17 ] 21 UT. The NST will provide us infrared magnetograms, which probe the magnetic field at the deeper level (tau(500)=]50 km) in the photosphere than Hinode and HMI magnetograms do. NST/TiO images of granulation of 10s cadence and 0.1 arcsec resolution will provide us information on the photospheric dynamics. Simultaneous monitoring of the target with the NST H]alpha imager will bring information on the photospherechromosphere connection.

 remarks
We wish to track an active region for 5 days continuously ] with day 3 being at central meridian. It is preferable if the active region is flaring but not necessary. The focus is not based around the NST observing time, but should be run as much of the 24 hours each day as possible. We need continuous observations for this work.
