Space Plasma Physics

The Space Plasma Physics group engages primarily in earth magnetospheric research. The group currently operates the satellites AKEBONO and GEOTAIL.

To elucidate various physical plasma phenomena around earth, the International Solar Terrestrial Physics Program (ISTP) is being promoted in cooperation with researchers around the world. Cooperation includes not only the satellite data analysis but also reciprocal work with ground observations, theoretical studies and modeling. We hope that the ISTP will shed light on solar-terrestrial interaction, in particular the substances produced, their momentum and the processes of energy generation, flow and disappearance.
